Get loose

June 2015

The Mob walked around the Jazz Fest at Millennium Park as they listened to the sounds of the Jeff Parker Trio at the Petrillo Music Shell.

“I can’t believe you got us down here listening to jazz like we’re old school,” Kayden whispered in his wife’s ear.

“Well, since we’re back in the city for a little while, I figured why not introduce you to something I like to do? We’ve been to the Drake concerts, partied in Vegas with Ross and Jay, had dinner with the Kardashians, gone drag racing with Future, let’s do something I like,” Nicole replied to her husband as he bent down and she kissed the tip of his nose.

“I know baby, I’m just playing with you. I love whatever you love. And if I don’t, I’ll learn. Happy wife, happy life,” he said as he wrapped his arms around her waist. “Look at Athena and Kenard over there trying to sneak off, thinking they slick. Tina! Kenard! Y’all get back over here!”

Kenard held up one finger as Athena bought Italian Ice from a street vendor. She handed him a few cups, and they both walked back to their family. “It’s hot as hell out here, as usual. Y’all don’t want no ice?”

Kayden and Nicole snatched the ice from Kenard and began eating. “Mmmm, nothing like the real thing!” Nicole mumbled as she twirled her tongue in the fruity ice. “How did you know I like watermelon?”

Kayden and his brother exchanged knowing glances and smiles. “Kenard said it was your fav…y’all nasty!” Athena yelled as she nudged her fiancé, while he and his brother laughed. Nicole blushed as she realized what was going on.

“Kayden!” she yelled, and gave him a playful punch.

“At least it was Kenard, and I didn’t tell anyone else baby. Kenard don’t want you,” he smirked.

“Changing the subject, I already know what it’s like being with one of the twins, and Nicole, trust me when I tell you that I got the freak. What y’all wanna do after this?” she asked. Kayden and Kenard looked at each other again and smiled. “For the millionth time Kenard, no. We’re older now, I’m pregnant, you’re engaged and he’s married. What’s gotten into you two today?”

“Nothing baby, I was just playing. Kayden know better and so do I; you might get mad and shoot one of us or some shit,” Kenard laughed. “How about after this we go and get a bite to eat?”

“Oooh yea, I want an Italian Beef combination, dipped with mozzarella cheese and mustard with peppers on the side, and a fountain lemonade from Portillo’s. What y’all want?” Athena gushed as Nicole, Kayden, and Kenard stared at her like she was crazy.

“Baby? Are you pregnant with twins?”

“What? Naw. Why can’t I just be hungry?”

“Because you’re only three months pregnant and you’re already showing, that’s why. We’re making you an ultrasound appointment tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow? That won’t do, I’ve got business to tend to in…”

“Athena! I said tomorrow! Whatever you got going on, cancel
